Lithium South is paving the way for electrification by advancing a high quality lithium brine resource located on the world-renowned Hombre Muerto salar in Argentina. It’s flagship project, the Hombre Muerto North (HMN Li Project) benefits from a desirable high-grade, low impurity lithium brine. With a recently completed Environmental Impact Report, the next phase for the project is a Definitive Feasiblity Study prior to a production decision. Located next to POSCO’s billion dollar lithium mine development, the HMN Li Project is poised to become a future lithium producer.

High-Grade Lithium Brine Results

April 6, 2024

April 06, 2023 / Vancouver, BC / Lithium South Development Corporation (the “Company”) (TSX-V: LIS) (OTCQB: LISMF) (Frankfurt OGPQ). Lithium South Development is pleased to announce outstanding results from the Natalia Maria claim block at the Hombre Muerto North (HMN) Lithium Project, located in Salta Province, Argentina. High-grade lithium results have been encountered in exploration core hole NM01. Brine samples collected from NM01 have an average lithium grade of 1176 mg/L Li and a low magnesium to lithium ratio of 2.66.

With the compilation of final results from the drill program, the Company looks forward to the full program results and to the delineation of an updated lithium resource. The high-grade lithium results across seven holes at Alba Sabrina, as well as the very high-grade lithium samples from Natalia Maria, demonstrate the potential of the HMN Li Project.

Preliminary Economic Assessment Filed on SEDAR

April 8, 2024

Lithium South successfully produced a bulk lithium carbonate (Li2CO3) product, showing potential for purification to battery grade quality. This route, integrating boron solvent extraction, achieved an overall lithium extraction efficiency of 60%. Subsequent purification tests conducted by SGS Canada Inc. indicated that the bulk lithium carbonate product achieved purity levels ranging from 99.4% to 99.5%, approaching the desired battery grade specification. The lithium carbonate purity reported herein is defined based on the difference versus both the “Sum of impurities” and “Loss of ignition at 550°C”.

While the primary plan remains to produce Li2CO3 technical grade with a 70% efficiency, using the industry proven evaporation technique, these test results demonstrate Lithium South’s capability to adapt and potentially shift towards higher value products. The company is excited about the flexibility these alternatives offer, which could significantly enhance the project’s value without altering the current production strategy.

Production Well Drill Program

April 18, 2024

April 18, 2024 / Vancouver, BC / Lithium South Development Corporation (the “Company or Lithium South”) (TSX-V: LIS) (OTCQB: LISMF) (Frankfurt: OGPQ) is pleased to announce significant progress at Well PW23-AS-02 on its flagship Hombre Muerto North Lithium Project (“HMN Li Project”), which is the first pumping well to be located at the Alba Sabrina claim block. Spanning 2,089 hectares, Alba Sabrina is the largest claim block in the HMN Li Project package and a key component of the corporation’s lithium development efforts.

Recent efforts at Well PW23-AS-02, have successfully cleared the well of sediment, leading to the flow of clear brine with strong artesian characteristics. These developments suggest potential for enhanced brine extraction rates. To maximize these benefits, an 80-kilowatt pump, significantly larger than the initially planned 50-kilowatt pump, has been contracted for the HMN Li Project.

Adrian F. C. Hobkirk, President and CEO of Lithium South Development Corporation states, “These developments on the Alba Sabrina claim block could potentially enhance our operational capacity.  The completion of this pumping test, anticipated by the end of May, will provide critical technical insight into the capacity potential of this area of the salar.  We’re excited about the future and are committed to delivering value to our shareholders and contributing responsibly to the global energy transition.”

Preliminary Economic Assessment Filed on SEDAR

April 30, 2024

The 2024 PEA Report provides support for Lithium South to proceed with development plans for a 15,600 tonnes per year lithium carbonate plant, located at its wholly owned, Hombre Muerto North Lithium Project (“HMN Li Project”) in Salta, Argentina. The extraction and recovery process for the project is based on conventional solar evaporation of the well brine, magnesium removal with slaked lime and lithium carbonate precipitation using soda ash, which is an industrial proven method of lithium production.

The financial model shows a Net Present Value after tax of US$938 million, an after-tax Internal Rate of Return of 31.6%, and a 2.5-year payback.
